On June 22nd, 2019 AlizéLaVie Magazine was a proud media sponsor of the Battle of the Churches organized by DaRe 2 DReam, Inc. Battle of the Churches is a staple community soccer tournament that takes place annually every summer in the Bronx. It is open to all local and neighboring Churches and community merchants. Overall this event brings together underserved and at-risk youth and their Church congregation for a day of fun soccer. But most importantly the event teaches youth the power of teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship. As a reminder D2D is a youth and community development Non-Profit Organization founded by the philanthropist Bobby Akumah. It Targets mainly the youth of ages 6-18 to, “Dream The Change” they want to be in the world and achieve it. The primary objective is to make sure all youth enrolled in the program graduate high school and have a plan for achieving the success they envision for themselves. D2D provides a foundation to support the youth in whichever path they choose, whether it is college, professional trade or, a career in soccer.

As a media specialist, we think it is very important to show support to those such as Bobby who works relentlessly to make a difference in this world. Nowadays we are increasingly losing this solidarity and instead of gaining competitiveness, conflict, war, and sometimes hatred. But behind all this negativity some among us, stay strong and fight this battle by using our talents and media platforms to give our voice and most importantly empowering the youth in our community.

As usual, this 7th-year youth church soccer tournament was very successful gathering roughly 500 people who came out on this sunny and beautiful day in the Soundview park while networking, having activities, and food. For the entire day Founder, Bobby and his team surpassed themselves once again, by providing an exciting event of quality for these young men to play soccer in great conditions and push them to their best. It was truly fulfilling to participate in this sporting day mingling with soccer teams and the community. There was a strong presence of Ghanaian among the crowd. We had a ball especially when we hand them the trophy over the winning team, which exploded their joy by dancing and singing. What such bliss to see this frenzy around them celebrating their achievement and success!

What to keep in mind with this experience?

The avenue in sports is so positive on so many levels. We need to encourage young calling, reveal young talents to come on top of their skills. That is why we now say, “ Give way to talents” to take up challenges and create together the necessary conditions to meet the expectations and aspirations of our youth. And DaRe 2 Dream Inc, instantiates perfectly this auspicious statement. Thanks to the philanthropist Bobby Akumah for having AlizéLaVie Magazine as partners. We look forward to the next 2020 events while enjoying the athletics and all the good they have to offer. For now, enjoy the final ambiance!
