AlizéLaVie Magazine had the opportunity to participate in the first edition of the Mademoiselle Guyane contest for Mademoiselle France, which took place in the city of Mana on Saturday, January 11, 2020. This new beauty pageant, without size criteria, was organized by the Talent Reservoir Association, run by Micheline Pierre. Our Editor-in-Chief and founder, Alizé Utteryn, was a special guest and patron of this edition. Thirteen enthusiastic beautiful young ladies strutted their stuff on stage, showcasing casual dress, evening gowns, and traditional costumes that highlighted the contest’ s theme: French Guiana as a multicultural land. During one of the segments in which the participants adorned traditional wears, they responded to general cultural questions from the jury. All candidates rocked the house and blew away the audience, who were warm and lively toward the acts performed. The general public came in numbers to support them.
Tiffany Setoe, a 17-year-old from the city of St Laurent, won over the audience and jury, with her breathtaking blue indigenous costume. She was ahead of the runner-ups Sandra Justine, Shéryl Topo, Eva-Gabrielle Lévy, and Marguerita Désir. Carmelle Moua won the audience award. The first Mademoiselle Guyane 2020 Tiffany, stated that she was “very happy to represent French Guiana” in the election of Mademoiselle France, which will take place in September 2020, in Alès (Bouches-du-Rhône). For this beautiful Native American, it will be a unique experience because it will be her first baptism of fire by plane and travel to France. Her ticket will be taken care of by her patron, Alizé Utteryn, also the founder of AlizéLaVie Guyane Association. This organization promotes young Guianese nationally and internationally. Finally, this competition also helped highlight beauty and multicultural diversity by offering this beautiful, unique French territory in the Amazon: Guiana. We would like to wish Tiffany good luck and wonderfully rich and unforgettable experience. Congratulations to the Guiana Regional Committee chaired by Ms. Micheline Pré, sponsors and all volunteers, designers, and artists who contributed to make this maiden edition a resounding success.
